*slaps ass* Go get’em fresh-meat.
Commission for D for Derby magazine.
Our Cedar Rapids Roller Derby commission poster for Lori Hartzler [and her team mates] Very pleased with this and Lori was a delight to work with.
I haven’t been able to draw anything for myself for a while, so have a derby comic.
That mouthguard has been attached to my teeth ever since :(

So, I’m designing a set of “DC Comics VS Marvel Comics Roller Derby” art cards. I’ll be doing them in pairs with 16 cards in all. First up, Wonder Woman VS. Ms Marvel (or Captain Marvel, if you prefer)
Next: “To know her is to fear her” VS The Girl of Steel!

So a little over a year ago now, the story department at Disney put out an anthology called “Where is Dead Zero?”. It was the third in a series of anthologies, all based around questions; the first, “Who is Rocket Johnson?”, the second “What is Torch Tiger?”, and this one. Each artists story was their own answer to the question.
I just realized i never posted my (very, VERY short) story for Dead Zero anywhere, so here it is!
Roller Derby is soooo much fun, if you’ve never gone to a bout i highly recommend finding your local team (most cities seem to have one) and checking it out. I’ve never played (can’t skate, can’t ride a bike, can’t do most things on wheels), but it’s awesome to watch. One thing that’s super fun are all the player names. They’re almost all puns, most of them kinda raunchy. In prepping for this comic, i talked to a derby friend and confirmed that yes, the names ARE intellectual property. She got me a link to an official list of every currently registered player that i could check my names against. Once i decided that Dead Zero’s team was all numbers based (hence the countdown) that made it a lot easier.
I didn’t use most of them, but i decided the other team would all have Tolkein themed names. Killmarillion is still one of my best ideas to date, i should just stop trying because it’s not getting better than that.
We’ve got a fourth book coming out in the near future! Keep your eyes peeled for:
